#5 Live With Eternity In Mind

“If heaven is our ultimate destination, what does that mean for our time on earth? That’s a question every follower of Jesus wrestles with.

In his letter to the Philippians, the apostle Paul weighed in on the subject. “But we are citizens of heaven and are eagerly waiting for our Savior to come from there” (Philippians 3:20).

As “citizens of heaven,” followers of Jesus may, and should feel out of place in this world. The Bible promises that something unimaginably good is waiting for us beyond this life. That promise, when properly understood, makes earthly excitements and priorities pale in comparison. It puts earthly problems in their proper context and helps us see them as mere blips in the whole scheme of eternity. And it makes our earthly pain and suffering a little more bearable, since we recognize that it’s all temporary.”
